Janice Strand Wyssling
Michigan & Wisconsin Broker/Owner
I am the broker and founder of The Real Estate Store. I began my
career in 1978 as a "one woman show" specializing in recreational
real estate. After a few years, I broadened my real estate scope by
listing and selling residential, commercial and vacant land.
I am passionate about real estate, especially real estate investing.
I practice what I preach.
I am proud of this company and I am quite certain that you will be
more than pleased with my sales team. We listen; we understand.
Whether you are a seller or a purchaser, you will find doing
business with The Real Estate Store to be as smooth and stress free
Time is a precious commodity and one that cannot be wasted. I value
your time. I appreciate your business. I respect your money and the
proof of this is in our many satisfied clients and customers.
Michigan Associate Broker, Wisconsin Agent, Appraiser
As a young man, my dreams carried me
North from Delafield, Wisconsin away from the Kettle Moraine to
college at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for resource
management and business. Then, I traveled further North to play in
the snow of Upper Michigan.
That was over 40 years ago. I fell in love. The skiing,
snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and boating were wonderful. I met my
wife, Janice, at Big Powderhorn Mountain while skiing. After we
married, we had fun moving around the Powderhorn Village building
and remodeling chalets and starting our little real estate company.
At that time, I was an insurance salesman and traveled all over the
tri-state area. It really helped me learn about people, their needs,
and their communities. In 1985, I got out of the insurance business
and joined my wife in the real estate industry. I got licensed in
Michigan and Wisconsin. Soon after, I became a state licensed
Appraiser. We also decided to have a child and raise her here.
Throughout the years, I experienced traditional U.P. camp life
provided by my wife's family. It was there that I learned a lot
about the woods, wildlife and myself. I passed the traditions of
deer camp to my daughter along with waterfowl hunting from my
childhood back in the Horicon Marsh. My hobbies have grown to
include boating on Lake Superior. We are members of the Saxon Harbor
Boating Club and love to get out to fish on Lake Superior or enjoy a
sunset cruise. I love writing poetry and have been published in one
of Amy J.Van Ooyen's books, A U.P. Deadend Road Never Ends. My poem
"Did You Ever" expresses my feelings for the beautiful Superior
region. The Northland is my home. The snow is still great, the woods
ever changing, and the boating on Lake Superior awesomely
My life experiences have helped me become a great REALTOR and now
Associate Broker. My resource management background from college
helps me identify valuable vacant land parcels. My hunting
experiences have made me comfortable in the woods. I have become a
good listener through my work with diverse people while selling
insurance. I enjoy finding commercial properties for other
businesses locating to this area. I love making new contacts and
helping them follow their dreams North to call this area home, as I
do. It is fun to sell recreational properties at ski resorts, golf
courses, inland lakes, and Lake Superior. I listen to your needs as
a seller or a buyer.
I like being active in our community. The Ironwood Economic
Development Commission, Ironwood Planning Commission, Ironwood City
Parks and Recreation Committee, Lake Superior Watershed Initiative,
Rotary, and my church council are a few groups I devoted time to
over the years.

I set my career goal to be a REALTOR at
a very young age. It was easy to catch the passion for real estate
from my parents and learn an appreciation for our area while growing
up in our family real estate business.
My parents taught me to cherish the things that made our area a
special place to live. They wanted the forest, wildlife, and water
to be a fiber of my being. They succeeded! I enjoy activities that
reap all the benefits of living in the Upper Peninsula like: fishing
for salmon on Lake Superior, watching the sunrise on a crisp fall
morning while waiting for ducks to fly into our decoys, sitting on a
fallen cedar tree in the woods while deer hunting, skiing through
fresh powder after a lake-effect storm, or hiking on a warm spring
day to see the rushing waterfalls during the melt. I fortunately
found and married a man that loves all of these things and this area
as much as I do. We are happy to live here and look forward to
raising a family here. I understand being a part of a small
community means that you take part in activities, lend a helping
hand, and help solve problems. Real estate combines my passions for
understanding and helping my community, the woods, recreating during
each of the four seasons, and working with people into a fascinating
My knowledge of the woods helps me in listing and selling vacant
land properties. Interest in our ever changing seasons helps me
understand the recreational real estate market. My passion for
welcoming people to our area is a catalyst for finding families full
time residential homes whether they are looking to rent or buy. I
enjoy the challenge of helping people move forward into the next
chapters of their lives. Last but not least, I love that investing
in real estate diversifies an investing portfolio.
As soon as I turned 18, I got my real estate license in Michigan. I
graduated with an Associate's Degree in Business Administration from
Gogebic Community College and a Bachelor's Degree in Finance from
the University of Minnesota-Duluth. I am fluent in American Sign
Language. I am a Michigan Associate Broker and licensed in
Wisconsin. I believe it is imperative that we stay educated and
strive to use the most cutting-edge technology to create a fun and
informative environment for our clients and customers.
My passion for excellence in real estate motivates and drives me to
keep our company current by utilizing the best technology our
industry can offer without losing great traditional customer

Michigan & Wisconsin Agent
In 2006, after 35 years of working in
the restaurant industry and the manufacturing industry, I turned my
strengths to real estate. Real estate is always new and exciting. I
love networking with new customers and clients and listening to
their needs. I am very well organized and I work efficiently to meet
the needs of my clients and customers. Since I am a seasoned
REALTOR, I find myself wanting to learn more about the industry
I was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Currently,
I reside on beautiful Lake Gogebic with my family. I enjoy
traveling, gardening, spending time with my son and family, and
taking in each season. I enjoy summer sunrises over Lake Gogebic,
long days, working in my garden, and warm nights for cook outs. Up
here, winter is famous for the hustle and bustle of snowmobilers. I
enjoy bumping into any of them and being a helpful hand. Spring
brings showers that produce huge waterfalls and gorgeous flowers.
I love to share my love and knowledge of this area. When you meet
me, you are only a stranger once, you are a friend for life.
I began working at The Real Estate Store in the summer of 2015 as
Office Administrator and Rentals Manager, and this is extremely
interesting work—every day!
My background is not what you’d expect in Real Estate. I grew up in
Texas and studied at UT Austin, where I consistently enjoyed meeting
and befriending students from exotic places. After graduating, I
determined to travel abroad to find unique experiences of my own and
met my husband (a man hailing from exotic Michigan’s UP) at the
American Embassy while I was a Peace Corps Volunteer teaching
English in Mauritania (between Morocco and Mali). We married and
moved to Japan for a few years, where I taught English as a Foreign
Language. Taking the road less traveled, meeting new people, and
experiencing unanticipated blessings are things I really enjoy.
Having studied Latin, French, Spanish, Arabic, and Japanese—each
with varying success, and traveling in over 15 countries, including
Mauritania and Japan, have allowed me to gain a broad perspective of
humanity. Living in those extremely different places, I had to
communicate in foreign languages on a daily basis. I am still a fan
of experiencing different cultures and language in general; reading,
paying attention to word choices, is what I do in my free time.
Throughout the 20 years I have been living in Michigan's UP, I have
worked in numerous positions in service to others while also
parenting our two wonderful sons. Although now mostly staying in one
place, I continue to enjoy assisting people in meeting their goals,
whether it is learning a new and life-changing skill, or finding a
new, more appropriate, place to live.
